Shelby Kittleson received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology in 2009. During college she spent her summers at Interlochen Arts Camp as Camp Life Staff, and following her undergraduate graduation she moved to Chicago to work with The Second City. Shelby left her position as Administrative Director, Production Assistant at the theater to work in comedy touring management in Los Angeles before accepting a position as Director of Sales at a comedy theater in Detroit. She then returned to California for three years.
After ten years of working in the arts, she decided to pursue her Master of Social Work degree; she completed her education with Loyola University Chicago in 2021 (fieldwork with Center on Halsted in Chicago and Chelsea Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in Chelsea, Michigan).
Shelby then worked with both Chelsea Hospital's Inpatient Psychiatric Unit as a social worker and psychotherapist and on the hospital's Inpatient Rehab Unit as a case manager before moving to outpatient therapy with Timber Creek Counseling, where she worked for three years.
After earning her full licensure, Shelby opened her own
private practice - Kittleson MSW Therapy, PLLC.
This practice is LGBTQIA+ allied, trauma-informed, and
anti-racist.
